Christopher Kanoff was a 1953 graduate of Patton School
Christopher Kanoff, 90, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Harrisburg, surrounded by his devoted family. A man of quiet strength and deep faith, Christopher leaves behind a legacy of devotion to God and family.
Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on June 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Samuel and Nadelka (Christoff) Kanoff. Christopher was a 1953 graduate of Patton Trade School before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne division. Shortly after his military service, he met his wife, Shirley. They were married on April 16, 1960, and shared 66 beautiful years together.
Christopher was a dedicated employee of AMP Inc. for 35 years. He was respected for his strong work ethic and reliability until his retirement in 1997.
Christopher’s greatest joy was always found in time spent with his family. He also enjoyed participating in a bowling league for over 30 years, taking a once in a lifetime trip to Bulgaria to see his parents' homeland, and annual family beach trips.
Above all, Christopher cherished his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was deeply grateful that his children and grandchildren share that faith.
Christopher is survived by his wife, Shirley A. (Miller) Kanoff; his son, Kevin L. Kanoff and wife, Megg, of Hershey, PA; daughters, Krystal A. Barr and husband, Rick, of Lebanon, PA, and Karen L. Wentling and husband, Eric, of Fredericksburg, PA; grandchildren, Zak Kanoff, Katie Stanton and husband, Josiah, Bekah Kanoff, Levi Kanoff and wife, Veronica, Seth Barr, Kyle Barr, Gabrielle Richards and husband, Ezra, Luke Wentling and wife, Liza, and Jenna Wentling; great-grandchildren, Karson, Khristopher, and Kora Kanoff, Silas, Callum, and Phoebe Stanton, Lainey Wentling; and his sister-in-law, Janet Kanoff of Elizabethtown.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, George Kanoff, Michael Kanoff, and Pete Kanoff, and by his sister, Christine Farling.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at New Hope Church in Harrisburg. A public viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A formal procession will follow to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, where Christopher will be laid to rest with full military honors at 2:30 p.m.
